3.24|Esurient Way Out

Mercy and Sway meditated by the highest waterfall in the Genesis Frontier. Floating just over the rapid rushing springs, they focused away from the steep banks and into the inner recesses of life's darkest sources. Two hearts beating, they woke up in a dark plane surrounded by floating doors and stairs, a labyrinth of death and despair. It appeared similar to Grahim's domain in some ways, the endless mirrors and vortex in the sky withstanding.

As two floating spirits, the girls waited on the figure "I'm vorry I'm vorry I'ze knowv I'm very vate. Velieve it or not I svoke to mothver avout this last night, I had othver plans vut I guess, here I am. Zuch is lyfe." The woman had unsaturated gray skin, magenta eyes matching her night-gown with tiny chimes hanging from her skirt. Her hair in back was a flow of light lilac flames flowing beautifully, the front permed upwards in a rockability style. She spoke in a high alto with dark violet lips, large stretched rips in her cheeks where flesh should be. The woman's lanky stilted appearance couldn't but give away the similarities to her mother.

"Thanks for agreeing to this, Miss Yulentka." Mercy said.

"Vease, vall me Yully." She held out a camera and took numerous selfies.

"Me fam is goona rip't big one pretti shoon! We gotta buff oop." Sway flexed

her arms, trying to appear as muscular as possible.

"Ves ves all of vat. Hmm, vet me see ver beautivul faces.." Yulentka grabbed

their chins and pressed their cheeks against one another, examining them

close up. Mercy and Sway looked to each other and giggled.

"Whaddaya say? Think we're good candidates? Wempff-"

"Vee're def on the same wav'ength." Sway added, teasing.

Yulentka nodded, taking her fingers out of Mercy's mouth. "Ves, very gud! My mothver is seldom a poor judge ven it comes to these vings. You two are Champion matervial, no vout." She stepped away. "But vith my help, vu will shine even brighter across ze undervorld!" She opened her palms and a black mist poured over them, enveloping the pair. Mercy and Sway coughed, "Mama?"

The young woman laughed lightly, "Zee mist is my magic. It'll allow ve to track every movement, every whisper in ze room and in every room vere!" She walked to one of the entrances. "Now visten carevully! There are a 1001 doors vere. Behind each is a vorrible, very powervul monster. The Millennium Plagues. Only vun on them holds ze key to escape vis dimension."

Mercy and Sway looked at each other. "Millennium Plagues?"

"A thousand years ago in one my mother's vorlds, a mystervious witch known as Vhilmvn Nightblood came up viff an experiment on the human body to see how long it could survive without ze food and water. She had a whole group of human test subjects on ze Isle of Poely Dactite, and all died, but were revorn in my realm as powervul eldritch dem'vons. Vey are reviled and feared in many divensions. Each prey on anyvun or anyving who dares come near. Understand, ya?" She rolled her eyes, taking out dark violet lipstick and reapplying the smooth wax. "Basicvally, vis is a vunch of scary monsters. Fight off vem all and vill them, if vu ever wish to escape."

She waved her hand to the doors, opening them at random to reveal more sub-dimensions, from arctic lakes to jungles, castles, ruined industrial cities, caverns and everything inbetween. Every door was unlocked.

Mercy nodded. "We will."

Sway unsheathed her claws. "Bring'em!"

The sounds of gnashing, growling, hissing and monstrous trumpeting were

mixed with roars from beyond.

The two girls ran towards a door, smashing into a tall stone palace.

Yulentka waited, doing her hair and makeup, texting on her phone, updating her Pentagram account. The two came out hours later, huffing and sweaty. Sway held a gigantic Bovidae skull over her shoulders, swinging it by the horns past Yulenkta.

"Dats one down, 'ight?" She wiped the blood from the cuff of her wrist.

Yully clapped "Vell, 1000 more to go."
