1.12|I know thy name

The two crawled up to each other, seeing the corpses of the girls floating as if judging down upon them, like accursed tomes meant to weigh on their conscience. Protas couldn't stop whispering. Raelyn's fingertips had gained sharp claws and she was scratching her chest, worried she'd do it until she bled.

The two cried until they couldn't cry anymore. They could only stare, frozen. "It's okay, now." Protas patted her on the back. "It's okay, now. I'm here. We're gonna be okay. We'll figure it all out, just a-just.." She let out a sigh, and everything began to go dim.

"Protas.."

"That.. is my name right?" She asked, sorting through the life of a corporal and the life of a zealous grifter. As pervasive as all of her memories and strained emotions were, Raelyn remained in her consciousness.

"Yes. Yes! You're right!" She pulled her in close, her head resting on the girl's chest. "I'm here. You'll be okay." She breathed in deeply, and the two were now back to their usual selves.

"Remember when I proposed to you at that park? I wanted to do it atop the Ferris wheel originally, but you were afraid of the wheel because it had 13 carts. We went on the waterslide, we ate that bad sushi, we even entered that horrible haunted house. I kept trying to get your attention and find the right spot all day. How did I do it.."

Protas caught her breath. She was trying to remember, in 5 specific lifetimes circling through her head, she was only ever proposed to Raelyn once. "The photobooth.." She signed. "You held the ring up behind me and then I stepped out and grabbed the picture, seeing you hold the ring behind me. It was so dorky and terrible, I wanted to drag you to the altar on the spot.."

They embraced each other in one another's arms.

"What are we going to do now?" Raelyn. "Now that I'm a, Llavalite and you're..

a clone."

 She whispered.

"The best thing we can do is to get on with our lives. Whatever you are, you're

still the love of my life." She kissed her hand, then pressed it over her heart.

"You mean by that?" She asked, smiling softly.

"Yeah. You're my one and only." Protas replied. "You and no other."

They laid back. "I don't know about, all this clone sense. But who cares.. I don't know where we can go now, but we can go together." Raelyn flexed her arms. "If anyone tries to stop us, we can always knock them out. With my super strength. My super.. alien strength, or something. Feel these muscles, feel them!"

Raelyn gave her biceps, still dripping with bluish ichor and slimy scales a good

squeeze. "Oho! That is very strong."

They laid backs for a few minutes in silence.

"I'm sorry about all this Rae. It's my fault. I was stupid.. I was.. selfish." Protas

said. "I should never have dragged you into this."

She wiped a tear from her cheek.

Raelyn just squeezed her harder. "Hey, it's gonna be okay, Pro. That's why I'm here. I'm going to help you, I'm gonna take care of you."

"Yeah.." They didn't really need a day. Just time to heal. It'd just be them, together in one place. Protas let the feeling take over her. Exhausted, the two slowly drifted into an awkward sleep.
