3.10|Pity Pendulum

Protlyn, the flicker, Lady Mara, the Ethereal Empress marched across bright pink carpet raising her hands behind her back. Two dozen Grand Meister's pointed their weapons at her, Mercy and Sway behind them. "Let them come forward. They welcome their deaths." A lilting, cruel voice said with a touch of sadism.

Queen Momutie held a large staff next to her throne, easily within her reach. "Especially you.. little one." She eyed Mercy. "You look younger than I'd imagine. Maybe you should've been adult by now? But then again, you were always a little young for any age. So naive and trusting. My sweetest treat." Her tongue flicked out, as if she could taste the air.

"Ugh. Thass disgushin'." Sway said, folding her claws over her hips and standing protectively by Mercy.

"You. You've come back to me. I've been waiting for this. For so long."

"You're not my true mother." She stuck her tongue out. "Your kind stole me."

"At any rate, how nice of you to return Gertrude, dear daughter."

Mercy sulked. "Not your daughter." Her face contorted in anger.

Protlyn lowered her beret and bowed. "It is my understanding that we have a

common enemy."

Momutie locked eyes with Protlyn and grimaced. "The Shadow King."

"Well, yes technically. But I was talking about another. The same enemy that evicted you Khepri from your home and sent you sniveling with these sugar brats." She turned to the Queen's court. "Unless you'd rather explain to the mothers and fathers of Feyslayer why you skinned their children alive, I suggest you work alongside us. The Vexia Seed will eat your world alive, from the core to your intestines once it arrives. And it will arrive before you know it."

The Khepri Queen of Glimmer Kiss laughed at this offer, her eyes turning to

thin slits. "And what's in it for me? You think we need your help?"

Mercy, knowing this fiend would never change shook her shoulders and cried out. "You can have ME!" She yelled. "I became the prophet of the HEX since! I'll rejoin Sugar Kiss, and never tell a soul of your whole gross scheme here if you join me."

Momutie hissed. "You think groveling before me is enough? You took my

children from me."

Protlyn leaned over Mercy from behind. "Doesn't feel great does it?"

"Psh. You expect me to believe you would let your daughter make this offer?"

She nodded. "I would never deny my daughter anything, not that that has any meaning anymore. She is no longer merely my family, nor of the family of any of you. She is her own person, and as such she has the right to make her own decisions. If she wants to betray her people to come join you, or choose her people she's free to." She took one step forward. Every single one of the Meister's weapons turned to fire, ice, electricity and various elemental charges, gathering energy. The Spirit Wands could be heard drawing from the Juice Sacks at full power.

"You lie. A snake in the grass, you seek to dismantle us, to destroy Sugar Kiss.

The Rainboyal family will never trust the Void Queens."

Protlyn raised her arms. "I would never lie to a fellow queen. We work for the

same goals. Even if we do not agree. "

"Bullshit." Momutie said. The Rainboyal Queen's eyes narrowed, they glowed with such a strange light, and the Meister's weapons grew stronger in response. The heat, electricity, ice and ice-fire that filled the room grew hotter. Fire, ice, the cold of the wind, lightning struck from nowhere. They were all shielded by an expansion of Sway growing large dark mothy wings, protecting all 3.

Sway screamed, a shockwave cracking the walls and bursting the windows as the power of the Hex caused the air around her to burst. The Grand Meisters held their ground, the Spirit Wands grew stronger.

With a rapid rush, Sway grabbed three of their necks and started strangling one with her tail. The others tried to stop her, only for Sway to knock a dozen back and scream again, a stream of misty  breath coating them in icicles and freezing their hearts. Momutie grabbed her wand and blasted at the Zes-Lethiska. Mercy shielded Sway, her body a block of solid ice. The ice cracked and she physically shattered her way free.

"How low have you sunk, Gertrude. To risk your life for a pet?"

"Not my pet.." Mercy breathed heavily. "My girlfriend."

"She's noot my gurlfriend.. -iz s-she?"

Mercy bopped her on the head. "You can be so clueless sometimes."

Momutie frowned at Mercy. "Does that little whore know what she's gotten herself into? I was never nice to you, nor did I ever truly care for you. All I wanted to do was for you to create children for me."

Mercy rolled her eyes. "So I'd be a breeding slave. Is that supposed to make

me feel better?"

The Rainboyal liege turned to Sway. "When your people came for me, I was forced to do horrible things. And when I escaped they forced me to hide and do terrible things. They're even worse than that motherfucking pet of yours, Mercy. And now they've found us.. it will be genocide."

The Grand Meisters attacked again, all manner of elements blasting at Sway. She shielded her face as if receiving too much sun, tackled several on one side and kicked the other side as if knocking through styrofoam.

Protlyn picked up Sway, who was still growling at the Meisters. "You get it now right? Even just one of these menaces in your castle is dare we say, problematic." She gave Sway a tiny playful shake. "Now what would you say to a million swarming your city? Could Glitterkiss survive?"

Momutie's eyes shined with a deadly, dark light. She had made up her mind. "Fine." Every ounce of pride was devoured to say one mere word. "We'll work with you."

"Good. Let's prepare then. It may be, quite awhile before they arrive."

Momutie smiled. "But you will do as I say, no questions asked. We're not going to be a team. I will be in command, and you will obey me."

Protlyn looked at her daughter, then at Sway. "Your call then, your highness." She gave a mock bow. "Don't worry. We'll crush you eventually."
